@kumar.., The name African American not only remind black people that they are from Africa but also that they have come to America as slaves...! It is somewhat giving them a low level standard in America. Why they dont use, Asian American or Chines American, Italian American, Srilankan American, or Spanish American..? In Malaysia, Malay Muslim call Chinese and Indians as Immigrants : also Indian Malaysian, Chinese Malaysia. But Malay Muslims are Bumi Puthras Generally, it is quite clear that such adjectives are used to point out that they are not the original...!!!!
